PhD Course Program

Our research unit works closely with the Swiss Leading House on Economics of Education, Firm Behaviour and Training Policies. The Leading House is a joint project under the direction of Prof. Dr. Uschi Backes-Gellner (University of Zurich) and Prof. Dr. Stefan Wolter (University of Bern), which is funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation.

Young economists are offered a wide range of study and research opportunities within the structured doctoral course programme in Economics of Education. Renowned international researchers are systematically integrated into the course offerings. Through compulsory courses in microeconomics, business administration, econometrics and institutional frameworks, doctoral students are introduced to current theories, empirical methods and topics relevant to the economics of education. In compulsory elective courses, students are informed about the latest theoretical or methodological developments by the world's leading experts in the respective field.
